AIS warnings in marinas

Many sailboats get AIS installed for good reasons. One of them is the collision avoidance.

As a side effect, when you are getting into marinas with SV Angelique, you get to the proximity (within the guard zone of Angelique) of many other vessels which also have AIS installed.

As a result, as you move along in the marina, and as the wind is also rolling those vessels in their dock, AIS keeps giving you "Dangerous AIS target" warnings, which is accompanied with loud beeping noise.

It is not only annoying as you are manouvering in the marina, but also when you stand in the dock and would like to just sit, rest and/or chat.

To avoid it, we tend to switch off the AIS warning on the chart plotter (Warnings - Settings) as approaching the marinas, and turn it back on when leaving the marinas, to enjoy full benefits of the AIS.
