Electric toilet on board

SV Angelique is equipped with two electric toilets. It gives comfort but you have to be mindful on how you use it.

First of all, the same rules apply than for any toilets on sailing vessels: DO NOT throw toilet papers, tissues, towels, etc into the toilet as it will clog its pump. Repair will be expensive for you, and you will lose a functioning toilet on board, which will be uncomfortable during your stay. Please collect the garbage in a plastic bag (provided) and close the bag with an easy knot and pace it on the little shelf underneath the sink.

Second: keep the outlet valve of the toilet closed, to prevent contaminating the marinas. It is not only smelly but it will be embarrassing vis-a-vis neighboring boats too. Once your are further out on the water, miles away from the coastline, open the valve (underneath the sink - you need to remove the bottom cabinet door) for a few seconds, and let the black water container flush itself into the sea. Then, close it back again. If you perform this task on a daily basis, it will be all fine.

Third: there are three buttons to the toilet (as indicated above). The bottom right will pump sea-water into the toilet to wash the surface and dilute its content. The bottom left will suck all this into the black water container (unless you leave the above mentioned valve open, because then it goes directly into the sea). The top button will do the too operations simultaneously. You can operate these buttons in one go only for 2-4 seconds. Then you need to wait a few seconds to let the electric motors and connectors cool down. This is why I rather suggest using the bottom buttons only: While you use one of the pumps, the other can rest / cool down.

Best to repeat the above procedure 3 times, or until the toilet is cleaned properly.

If you think it is too complicated, believe me, it is much simpler and much more comfortable than the manual pump. The only downside is that you need to be mindful of the electric system to keep it in good health.

Good luck!
